Who is One Tree Planted?
Founded in 2014, One Tree Planted is a non-profit organization focused on global reforestation.
Over a short span of time, the organization has helped plant millions of trees, across regions in North America, Latin America, Africa, and Asia by forging an association with individuals and businesses alike.

We'll be working with One Tree Planted to donate trees wherever they're needed most. The One Tree Planted team works with local nurseries to plant trees that are region appropriate; therefore, the type of tree planted can vary. To give you an idea about the type of trees planted - in the Andes, it could include various types of Polylepis trees (which are native to the Andes and have adapted to the extremely high altitude); in California, tree species may include the Sugar Pine, California Redwood (State tree), Maple, Elderberry, Willow, Birch, Dogwood, Cedar, Giant Sequoia and Walnut.
We're partnering with One Tree Planted, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that has carefully selected reforestation organizations in six regions: North America, Latin America, Africa, Asia, Europe and the Pacific. We have a goal to plant 14,151 trees through OneTreePlanted, and once we make the initial donation, they will keep us up to date on the how, where, when and what kind of impact the contribution is having on the environment. We'll keep you updated on progress too!
One Tree Planted is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that has planted 11 million trees since it started in 2014. As an organization, CheapFlightsFares is doing our part to help preserve and sustain the environment.
This is a question we had too when looking for the right partner. One Tree Planted works with nurseries to grow tree seedlings that are then transported and planted in the respective locations. Some organizations just put a seed in the ground and count that as planting a tree. One Tree Planted goes many steps further and will keep us updated on the progress of the trees we plant through them.
Yes, the goal is to plant trees through reforestation organizations that work closely with One Tree Planted. Tree seedlings will be planted where it's needed at the time and where they have the best survival rates.
While One Tree Planted's reforestation projects have important benefits in terms of capturing and storing atmospheric carbon, they do not currently pursue verification for certified carbon credits nor do they offer such credits that can be claimed by any other parties. Verification requires a unique set of procedures, costs, or resources that are not always available when prioritizing reforestation for environmental restoration purposes. One Tree Planted and CheapFlightsFares do not make any representations or warranties of any particular set of carbon certification methodology or standards.

The cost to plant a tree can vary depending on the region and partner. However, here is a quick and average cost breakdown of how One Tree Planted gets it done.
$50 - $85 for one tree sapling to be grown at a nursery
$20 - $30 per tree to be planted
$08 - $20 per tree average with transport costs, material costs
$10 - $22 ongoing maintenance of trees
$12 - $15 operating costs
$03 - $05 credit card processing fees, transaction costs
We're partnering with One Tree Planted on a one-for-one program, where one flight booking = one tree planted. The average cost will end up being $1 per tree planted and CheapFlightsFares will cover the cost. Together, we can make an impact.

Yes, if you have to cancel your booking, we will still plant a tree for you if you'd like. As long as you select a region when making your booking, we'll work with One Tree Planted to get the tree in the ground!
